Welcome!

My name is Mary Beth and I am the owner and founder of The Memory Organizers!

I have always loved taking photographs and before I became a professional photo organizer, I was just like my clients. I had boxes of old family photos and thousands of digital photos. If you asked me to find a specific photo, I would scroll, and scroll, and scroll.

Sound familiar?

A family of four poses for a studio portrait, with two parents and two children, all smiling. The father has glasses and is dressed in a patterned suit, the mother has glasses and dark hair styled in a bouffant, the young boy has dark hair and wears a striped shirt, and the young girl has blonde pigtails with red hair ties and wears a pink dress.

When my dad passed away, I was asked to collect photos of him, scan them, and create a slideshow for his funeral.

While doing this, I was able to look through so many photos from my childhood!

During a really difficult time, these photos brought me a lot of joy.

A pink photo album with a picture of a smiling young girl in a blue and white dress with a large blue bow in her hair. The album has the words 'LUI'S USA' on it, along with a small pink flamingo. A matching pink box is nearby, and a small potted plant is in the background on a light-colored surface.

My Path To Becoming A Professional Photo Organizer

My path to becoming a professional photo organizer was a bit unconventional. I have had a few different phases in my career…

Career Phase #1

I spent 19 years working for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club. I met my husband there and now we have two kids in college! A favorite tradition was always an Opening Day picture of us.

Family of four smiling at the baseball stadium, with a woman, a man in a red cap, a young girl with face paint, and a young boy with face paint, standing in front of the dugout at Coors Field.

Career Phase #2

I took a part-time job at an elementary school so that I could spend more time with my kids. I fell in love with teaching, went back to college to get my master’s degree, and taught 5th grade for six years.

A woman standing outside on grass, holding a sign that reads '2017 Mrs. Benner's First Day,' wearing a yellow T-shirt with a green lion logo, blue jeans, and black and white sneakers.
Classroom group of children and teacher dressed in various costumes, including animals, monsters, and characters, for a Halloween celebration.

Career Phase #3

While I loved my time with my students, I made the difficult decision to transition away from teaching. As I evaluated my next career move, I knew I wanted to do something that brought me joy.

For me, human-interest stories have always done that. We all have unique stories that photos and videos help us remember and share - assuming that they are preserved and organized!

Open metal storage box filled with printed photographs, some showing people posing indoors.
A tabletop covered with numerous scattered photographs, mostly black-and-white and color, depicting various people, including children, adults, and groups, in different settings and poses.
A collection of vintage photographs, envelopes, and yearbooks on a black table. Some photos are in a white container, while others are loose or attached to documents.

After working with my family’s personal collection, I realized how our precious memories were in danger of being lost - to deterioration or natural disaster. Then I realized:

  • I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures, creating photo books, and making calendars for my family.

  • I like helping people and hearing their unique stories.

  • I have a passion for teaching and learning.

  • Creating systems of organization is fun for me!

Put all of these things together and what do you have?
